About Me

Hi! My name is Capucine (a fiery-coloured flower native from the Andes). I am a documentary photographer and filmmaker.

My projects tell stories about freedom, womanhood, creative expression and interconnection with the natural world.

Experience

Besides my personal artistic and documentary projects, I have worked as a photojournalist for magazines and newspapers, as a set photographer, and as an events photographer for various companies, cultural institutions or non-profit organizations. I also photograph important life events: weddings, maternity, baptisms.

Background

I studied communication and journalism at IHECS in Brussels before attending the international photojournalism and visual storytelling programs at the Danish school of Media and Journalism (DMJX). Later I also followed a diploma in filmmaking from Raindance cinema school in Brussels.

Approach

My approach could be described as slow and immersive. I like to observe, ask questions, and live with the people whose life I document, carrying out my projects over long periods of time.

One of my passions is analogue (film) photography. It is a much slower, artistic and delicate process.

I like to look for the poetry of things, within and beyond the visual aspects: in connections, movement, emotions, states of mind.
